Limerick farmer recognised for excellence in milk quality, farm performance and sustainability
Niall Moloney, who farms alongside his wife Ann, father Jerry and mother Margaret in Crecora, Co. Limerick, has been named the winner of the 2026 Kinisla Milk Quality & Sustainability Awards.
These awards recognise farmers who consistently deliver excellence in milk quality while demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability and the future of dairy farming. These achievements were celebrated at a special awards ceremony attended by Niall Collins TD, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, who spoke about the importance of supporting a competitive and sustainable agriculture sector.
A strong advocate for learning and innovation, Niall actively participates in discussion groups and sustainability initiatives, including the Evolve RegenDairy programme. Through this programme, he has implemented actions across protected urea use, milk recording, herd genetics and watercourse protection.
The judging panel also recognised the Irwin family from Kilmeedy, Co. Limerick, as runners-up. The standard among finalists was exceptionally high, making the final decision particularly challenging.
Kinisla also congratulates the Casey family, Kiskeam, Co. Cork; the Spillane family, Beaufort, Co. Kerry; and the Worrell family, Whitegate, Co. Clare, on reaching the final stage of the competition. Their dedication and innovation reflect the strength of Kinisla’s farming community.
Speaking at the event, Pat Murphy, CEO of Kinisla, congratulated the Moloney family on their achievement.
“Congratulations to Niall, Ann, Jerry and Margaret Moloney on this well-deserved recognition. Their commitment to producing high-quality milk while embracing sustainable farming practices demonstrates the innovation, dedication and care that exists across our farming community. At Kinisla, we are proud to work alongside farmers like Niall who continue to drive progress and help shape the future of Irish dairy.”
Congratulations to Niall Moloney and family, and to all those recognised at this year’s awards.
